5786: A New Year’s Message from MERCAZ USA

As we begin a new Jewish year, we must be hopeful that we will be blessed with the strength and determination needed to work together on the causes that are so near and dear to our hearts. We are buoyed by the fact that MERCAZ nearly doubled its vote for the forthcoming Zionist Congress and added to its mandates. Moreover, this will translate into strengthened representation on the arms of the Jewish national and international institutions. And on a personal note, I look forward to being in Jerusalem in a month’s time for the Congress.

Unfortunately, as you may have heard, the elections were tainted by fraud. Far too much time and energy were expended in attempting to undo the damage. While we disagree with the decision of the Zionist Supreme Court which limited the penalties, we are determined to move forward with our agenda.

What I want to make sure you also know as well as is that the work of MERCAZ USA continues with just as much strength, fervor and passion even in non-election years. I want you to know that we are honored to represent our movement in the American Zionist Movement where the slates that supported the fraudulent votes have also gained ground. I want you to know that we are honored to represent our movement’s strong and storied history of Zionist leadership in the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations. I want you to know that we reach students on campus. I want you to know that the success of this campaign has energized a new generation of Zionist leaders in our movement who are excited to move forward together with us.

And I want you to know that this will only be possible with your help. The year that is nearly complete has nearly completed our financial resources. As we begin a new year, we ask you to make a new commitment to our work. Please support MERCAZ USA today.

Wishing you and your families a happy and healthy new year. May we know times of prosperity and peace with the return of our captives to the loving embrace of their families.

Shanah Tovah,
Rabbi Hillel Skolnik, President, MERCAZ USA
