Re: AZM Update on 2025 World Zionist Congress Election
The American Zionist Movement (AZM) takes pride in the historic turnout of more than 240,000 voters in the 2025 World Zionist Congress election which concluded on May 4. This robust participation powerfully demonstrates the broad interest in this election, the success of our 22 slates in promoting their positions and rallying voter support, and the overall strength of the Zionist movement in the United States during these challenging times. We thank Judge (ret.) Abraham J. Gafni and David J. Butler for their leadership of the US Area Election Committee (AEC) through the last eighteen months leading up to and during the voting period and continuing through the election certification process.
Standard Election Certification Process
As with previous World Zionist Congress elections, we are currently conducting the standard post-election procedure of:
This normal certification process typically takes several weeks to complete.
Investigation of Voting Irregularities
Separate from the standard certification process, the AEC is continuing its thorough investigation of serious voting irregularities identified during the election. While irregularities arise in many elections, the online nature of this election may have invited one or more bad actors to attempt to take advantage of modern technology to sway the outcome. Immediately upon the discovery by the AZM staff of unusual patterns of potentially fraudulent voting, the AEC, through its chairs, engaged outside consultants to investigate the potentially fraudulent activity as well as to search for any additional patterns of irregular voting or registration. This investigation is ongoing.
The specific objectives of the AEC’s investigation are:
To maintain the integrity of this investigation, we will not be disclosing details about the investigative methods or identifying any slates for whom potentially fraudulent votes may have been cast. This approach ensures impartiality and allows the investigation to proceed without prejudice.
We acknowledge that reports about these voting irregularities have circulated. The AEC is handling these issues with appropriate seriousness and thoroughness under the guidance of independent counsel and investigators, including a former high-ranking FBI special agent who have extensive experience in these kinds of investigations.
Timeline and Next Steps
We expect to complete both the standard certification process and the investigation within approximately three weeks from the May 11 deadline for receipt of the last mail-in ballots. The AEC will then convene to review the findings and make determinations regarding the election results.
We ask for your patience as we work to ensure that this election reflects the genuine will of American Zionist voters. The AZM and the AEC remain committed to transparency while maintaining the confidentiality necessary for an effective investigation and proper certification of the election results.
We will provide further updates if necessary while the process continues.
