In tough times we ask, “How can we go on while the world trembles?”
With each breath we take, there is a quiet invitation to bring the Divine Spirit into our lives. We learn to choose—not to be drawn in by every dark thought, but instead to turn away from it in joy and to choose light. But the core of that path reveals itself in the small details: a good word, a smile, careful listening. Small things that each of us does add up to a great force of light.
Our Sages teach us: If a person sustains (even) a single life, it is as though s/he has sustained an entire world. Sometimes we do not perceive its influence right away, but each small act joins with others, is built up, and shines.
So it is that, with continued small steps, alone and with others, we create true change, filling the world with light. And by causing kindness to be shown to the other, we bring joy from breath (neshima) to the soul (neshama). “Let every soul praise the Eternal!” Kol ha-neshama tehallel Yah!
