Aliyah Committee, Amton Newsletter — Spring 2000

Dear Readers

Dear Readers,
In the last few months, we have been getting calls from members of the Conservative Movement across the country responding to our "Curious About Living in Israel?" motif which has been appearing here and also in local synagogue newsletters. The response has been heartwarming and exhilarating because it reaffirms our belief that there exists in North America a substantial core of "New Age Zionists" who are interested in experiencing Israel.

Now, we are on the eve of Pesach, the Holiday of Freedom, the Holiday of Spring, when we say "In every generation one should see himself as having personally left Egypt." The message of yetziat Mitzrayim (the exodus from Egypt) can be compared to our present day love for and commitment to Zion, the will to experience Israel, to touch, to tour, and to walk the land, to speak in Hebrew, and for some, eventually, to live in Israel. Therefore, in this issue we're focusing on:

  • Israel Experience Programs for individuals and families, students, generation X'ers, and retirees, sponsored by Tnuat AM, MaroM/Koach, and the Israel Aliyah Center of the World Zionist Organization.
  • A special interview with Rabbi Joseph Wernik who made aliyah to Israel from the U.S. 30 years ago and is now the Chairman of the Israeli Masorti Movement and a key leader in the Jewish Agency and the World Zionist Movement.
  • A "photo calendar" of some Tnuat AM and MaroM/Koach events of the last several months.

You are invited to join us in our future events. If you are on our mailing list, you will, of course, receive invitations. If you are not yet on our mailing list, but would like to be, please contact us. Also, if you would like to initiate an activity in your local community, please let us know. We at Tnuat AM and MaroM/Koach are dedicated to you and your Zionist interests. Contact us and see for yourself.

Hag Pesach Sameach V'Kasher (Wishing you a happy and kosher Passover),
