MERCAZ Salutes SSDS Israel Trips
MERCAZ USA congratulates the seven Solomon Schechter-affiliated day schools that have continued the tradition of annual class trips to Israel, despite the renewed Palestinian violence. "While the concerns about safety that parents and administrators may have are understandable, said Evelyn Seelig, MERCAZ President, "at this time, it is vital as Jews to demonstrate by our physical presence our solidarity with Israel."
Yeshar Koach to the following schools and to their MERCAZ Israel scholars: Krieger Schechter Day School, Baltimore MD (Ariella Foss); SSDS, Cleveland OH (Hannah Bushman); Reuben Gittelman Hebrew Day School, New City NY (Samara Lender & Evan Hirschhorn); Community Day School, Pittsburgh PA (Diana Kitsio); Ezra Academy, Woodbridge CT (Elana Bell); and the Solomon Schechter Upper School of Essex & Union, West Orange NJ (Malachi Handler and Liora Tarlowe). Also the Epstein School (Atlanta GA) visited Israel this past spring.
