. . . to Sallai Meridor, former Chairman of the Executive of the World Zionist Organization and Jewish Agency for Israel, who was appointed as Israel's Ambassador to the United States, succeeding Daniel Ayalon.

Meridor, who had a long and distinguished career in the WZO and Jewish Agency including Head of the Settlement Division and Treasurer, served as Chairman from 1999 until Zeev Bielski's election in 2005.
