NOVEMBER IS LINK TO ISRAEL MONTH

The Conservative Movement’s Aliyah Committee, chaired by Elana Gershen Finkelstein, calls upon Conservative congregations throughout the United States to celebrate this coming November as “Link to Israel” Month.

Launched with a full-page ad that will appear in the Fall issue of the United Synagogue Review, the month-long program has been designed to focus attention on our relationship with Israel and raise awareness about Aliyah as a life option for Conservative Jews.

Over the coming weeks, the Aliyah Committee, which functions under the auspices of MERCAZ USA, will be developing ideas for activities for the month-long project and publicizing them to Conservative synagogues and schools throughout the country. Additionally, the Committee will serve as a clearinghouse for interesting programs on Israel and Aliyah awareness.

Of special note is a “Zionist Calendar” educational project that the Committee is developing, for use with children through middle school. Every weekday during the month, a “Zionist fact” will be uploaded to a special website, www.linktoisrael.org, with a set of weekly activities for parents and children to do related to the Zionist theme of the week.

In the meantime, please mark your calendars to organize at least one event during November for “Link to Israel” Month. If you are looking for a suggestion or have a good program to share with others, contact the Aliyah Committee at aliyah@mercazusa.org.
