PROF. SHALVI HONORED AS A "WOMAN WHO DARED" The Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies congratulates Prof. Alice Shalvi, its Chairwoman, on the numerous honors that have recently been bestowed upon her. Earlier this year, the Dorot Foundation honored Prof. Shalvi for her lifetime contribution to "Tikkun Olam", citing her as "a woman who dared" for her work as a feminist, the founder of the Israel Womens Network, the principal of the Pelech Religious Experimental High School for Girls, the first female Rector of the Schechter Institute and, most recently, the developer of the new interdisciplinary graduate program in Judaism and the Arts. In addition, later this fall, Prof. Shalvi is being honored with honorary doctorates from Hebrew Union College in Jerusalem and the Weizmann Institute in Rehovot. |
